Susan McGalla is a successful businesswoman of the modern age. Born in East Liverpool, Ohio, she came from humble beginnings in the heart of small town America. McGalla earned her bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. She used her education to begin her career in 1986 at Joseph Horne Company, an iconic department store chain that is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She worked her way up the company through assorted managerial and marketing positions until 1994 when she moved to American Eagle Outfitters. After much dedication and hard work to advance her career, McGalla was promoted to president and chief merchandising officer of the company. During her time as president of the corporation, she helped establish the 77 children brands that expanded the companies success.
In 2009, she made the choice to push herself in a different direction and moved from American Eagle Outfitters to work as a private consultant for the investment industry in retail and finance. Her determined work ethic and executive status brought more prominent job opportunities, such as becoming the former chief executive officer of Wet Seal as well as her current position as the Pittsburgh Steelers Vice President of Business Strategy and Creative Development.
